The Emory University CRNA program will take 36 months or 9 semesters to complete. It is a full time program with 89 credit hours. Once you finish this program, you will receive a DNP with a specialization in Nurse Anesthesia. The class size is quite small with only 10 students being accepted every year which naturally makes it a competitive program to get into.
One interesting thing to note about this program is that it is new and was started in 2017. However, despite being new, it is fully accredited by the COA and SACSCOC. The first class to graduate was in 2020 and had a first time pass rate of 90%. The class of 2021 and 2022 had a first time pass rate of 100% and 93% respectively. That said, the second time pass rate for all students was 100%. Also, 100% of all graduates from the Emory CRNA program have been employed within 6 months of graduating. The attrition rate for this program in 2023 was 6.67%, in 2022 it was 6.7%, in 2021 it was 10% and in 2020 it was 0%.
Emory University has a state of the art lab where you’ll be able to complete over 2,500 clinical hours over the course of the program. You’ll be exposed to many different clinical and simulated situations. The clinical sites will be situated throughout Atlanta in both rural and major medical centers.
This program is accredited by the COA for the maximum 10 years on May 31st, 2023. It will need to be reviewed once again in 2033.
The cost for this program is $24,914/semester and there are 9 semesters. So, the total cost would be approximately $224,226.
If you want to apply to this program, there are two application deadlines per year. The first is June 1st and the second is September 1st. Now, it is important to note that applicants who apply for the June 1st deadline will be given priority over the September applicants. If you apply in June, then you can expect interviews to be done in July and August. If you apply in September, then interviews will be done in October and November.
In order to qualify for this DNP program, you’ll need to have a Bachelors or Masters in Nursing that is fully accredited by the CCNE and NLNAC. Your RN license also needs to be unencumbered and if you’re from out of state, you need to be able to get a Georgia RN license.
When it comes to your GPA, you’ll need to have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Critical care experience is also essential and you’ll need to have a minimum of 1 year, however, 2 to 3 years of critical care experience is preferred.

GRE is not required for this school.
When applying to Emory University, you’ll need to submit official transcripts from your past schools and degree programs, your resume, 3 letters of recommendation, application along with the $50 application fee. Your letters of recommendation should include one from a faculty member that taught you, another from your work supervisor or employer that reviews your work performance and the last letter should be from a colleague/CRNA or doctor. Before you send in your application, it is highly recommended that you shadow a CRNA or an anesthesiologist for a minimum of 16 hours
Getting accepted into this program is quite competitive and in addition to the above requirements, you will also need to undergo a urine drug screen test and state and federal criminal background check.
When submitting your transcripts, the preferred method is through the electronic transcript system where you simply select “Emory University – School of Nursing”. However, if this isn’t possible then the school will need to email your official transcripts to nursingquestions@emory.edu.

According to past interviewees, the interviewers ask a lot of difficult clinical questions for most of the interview which makes it very challenging. Almost 100% of all questions asked were clinical with barely any personal questions.
Another key tip is that you can expect the interviewer’s to ask you for more information on the things you’ve put on your resume. So, make sure that you’re well prepared and are fully knowledgeable about everything that you have on your resume.
